about
This is one of those tunes that didn't quite fit on our last album, Repeat Repeat, but still is one of my faves.
When I was a kid our farmhouse was narrowly missed (like ten feet narrowly missed) by a massive tornado - we still lost hundreds of trees and had our poor neighbours brand new horse barn wrapped randomly around the trees that were still left standing. Ever since I've had these recurring nightmares about a never ending trail of tornadoes that I can't escape. Whenever the sky turns the slightest shade of green, I get that familiar terror in the pit of my stomach. Thought I'd share that with you!
lyrics
The weight of the air that night
Brought the streets to life
In this sleepy town
where everyone raised their eyes
To the grey green skies
To watch the rain come down
And after the rains were gone
A lightning storm
Torched the sky
And everyone stood their ground
Til that cloud touched down
And roared toward us, straight for us, it’s gonna
Blow...
(Believe it, I heard it, shut all the windows and doors
Each time it returns it, is that much worse than before)
It’s a recurring theme
From a childhood dream
In one steady stroke
It’s tearing up everything
As it gathers steam
You can’t outrun it, it’s coming, and it’s gonna
Blow…
(Believe it, I heard it, shut all the windows and doors
Each time it returns it, is that much worse than before)
